Allex Kütt was born in Estonia shortly after the nation declared its independence following World War I. In 1942, Kütt began his artistic studies at the Tallinn School of Fine and Applied Arts. Estonian National Publishing (Eesti Riiklik Kirjastus) was the state-owned publishing entity of the Estonian Soviet Socialist Republic.
