Información sobre el cartel: The eleven flags read "Greetings to Great Stalin". From right to left, the flags are in the languages of: Russian, Ukrainian, Belarusian, Azerbaijani, Georgian, Armenian, Kazakh, Tajik, Kyrgyz (Kirghiz), Turkmen and Uzbek. This poster reflects results of the 1936 'Stalin Constitution' whereby the Kazakh and Kirghiz ASSRs were elevated to republic status. At that time, the Transcaucasian Federation also was split into three republics-- Armenia, Azerbaijan and Georgia-- creating a total of eleven Soviet republics.

Iskusstvo was the Art Publishing House (A.K.A. Visual Arts Publishing) that was created in 1936 from Ogiz-Izogiz (State Art and Literature Publishing House). It disseminated books and journals dealing with graphic design and the fine arts, and it issued numerous posters. Since the Iskusstvo banner was part of the State Printing Works in Leningrad (St. Petersburg) and Moscow, its two main offices were located in those two cities.
