Printer Notes: In 1918, the Soviets nationalized the printing workshop of the brothers V. and G. Mennert in Moscow located at 9 Bol'shaia Polianka (later, Soviet Street). The workshop became Geokartprom (Union of Production Enterprises of the Military Topographic Directorate, Headquarters of the Red Army), a state-owned trust that centralized government mapping. Geokartprom, was under the direction of the V.T.U. (Military Technical Administration).
