Poster Notes: (Top of poster) "Russian Socialist Federated Soviet Republic – Workers of all countries, unite!" The fight for Ukraine lasted from 1917 until 1921 and it ran concurrently with the Russian Civil War. When this poster was issued, VTsIK (its publisher) operated from the "Second House of Soviets" in Moscow, formerly the Hotel Metropol'. VTsIK publishing operations were at "Entrance No. 4, Apartment 15" in the Metropol'. Subsequently another Moscow hotel, The National, became the "First House of Soviets" and was used as offices and sleeping quarters for Soviet political leaders.
