2nd State Typography Workshop, Petrograd [St. Petersburg]
The 2nd State Typography was the Wefers and Company Lithographic Plant prior to Soviet nationalization. The plant was in St. Petersburg (then called Petrograd) at 8 Griaznaia Street-- Griaznaia (meaning dirty in Russian) characterized the industrialization of the neighborhood. In the 1920s, the street was re-named "Edison" in honor of the inventor Thomas Edison. In the 1950s, the street was re-named "Yablochkova" in honor of Pavel Yablochkov the Russian electrical inventor.
