Art Fund of the USSR, Rostov Region
The Art Fund of the U.S.S.R. provided a measure of compensation for Soviet artists. The Fund was supported in part by departments attached to branches of the Artists' Union. Other Funds helped to promote activities for writers, designers and other guild members. Artists laboring on a myriad of the Fund’s projects throughout the USSR could (under agreement) obtain a guaranteed minimum wage. The Fund also made paintings, sculptures, souvenirs and handicraft work available to citizens and tourists, however the main buyers of visual art in the Soviet Union were state organizations and government-connected social clubs.
