Poster Notes: Moscow won the bid for the 22nd Olympics in 1974. In the summer of 1980, the games were held in Moscow and in other locations around the USSR in one of the most politicized Olympics ever held due to the number of countries that boycotted in protest of the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan.

The Kalinin Poligrafkombinat (printing plant) was located at 5 Lenin Avenue (formerly Voroshilov Street) in Kalinin (Tver) northwest of Moscow. Throughout its existence, the name of this printing plant changed depending on the various state-owned trusts that handled its management. At one point in its history, the plant was under the management of the printing trust, Soiuzpoligrafprom (All-Union Association of Printing Enterprises).

Plakat (All-Union Poster) was created in 1974 in Moscow through the work of the Union of Artists and the Central Committee of the Communist Party. The chief of its poster department was Dmitry Akimovich Isaev. Plakat publishers existed until 1991 whereupon it was renamed Panorama publishers.
