Poster Notes: The woman with a grey coat is wearing the "Hero of Socialist Labor" medal for achievements in economics and culture in addition to the "Order of Lenin", the highest civil decoration given to civilians and soldiers for service in defense, peace and labor. The woman in white has an "Order of Lenin" and is presumably older, wearing her head covering (platok) tied under the neck opposed to the woman in gray with the platok tied behind the head in modern fashion.

Iskusstvo was the Art Publishing House (A.K.A. Visual Arts Publishing) that was created in 1936 from Ogiz-Izogiz (State Art and Literature Publishing House). It disseminated books and journals dealing with graphic design and the fine arts, and it issued numerous posters. Since the Iskusstvo banner was part of the State Printing Works in Leningrad (St. Petersburg) and Moscow, its two main offices were located in those two cities.
