			Proletarskaia Kultura (Proletarian Culture) was known by its portmanteau name, Proletkult. It was an artist cooperative established in 1917 and its formation was supposed to provide the foundations for a new proletarian art, "liberated from bourgeois, pre-Soviet culture."
