5th Soviet Typo-lithography Workshop, White Sea Military District, Arkhangelsk

5-я Советская Типо-литография, Белом. Воен. Окр., Архангельск

The 5th Soviet Typo-lithography of the White Sea Military District operated in the city of Arkhangelsk during the Russian Civil War. The printer worked under the auspices of the Red Army producing posters, leaflets, and military literature.

The Council of People's Commissars of the RSFSR established the White Sea Military District in early 1918. It was located within the territory of Arkhangelsk, Vologda, and Olonets provinces and incorporated the islands of the White Sea and a segment of islands in the Arctic Ocean.
The district's governing base was in the city of Arkhangelsk. Following a White Army attack during the summer of 1918, the district was re-apportioned among the Yaroslavl, Ural, and Petrograd military districts while the governing base moved to the city of Vologda.
