Vsekokhudoznik (All-Russian Cooperative Union of Workers of Fine Arts)

Vsekokhudoznik was an artist cooperative that existed from 1928 to 1953. The cooperative provided artists with canvas, paint, it offered monetary advances and loans, it bought works, and organized artistic sabbaticals for its members. In addition, the cooperative organized contests for large projects. In its early years, Vsekokhudoznik had sections located in Rostov-on-Don, Nizhnii Novgorod, Samara, and in Sverdlovsk. Reorganized in 1932 as the All-Russian Cooperative Union of Workers of Fine Arts, Vsekokhudoznik was administered by the All-Industrial Council. In 1935, its operations were transferred to the People's Commissars of the Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic and in 1953, Vsekokhudoznik was closed and its functions were transferred to the Art Fund of the USSR. At the time of its closure, the cooperative had sixty-seven sections operating throughout the USSR.
