Gomel Provincial Department for Distribution of Printed Works
Established by the People's Commissariat for Education (Narkompros), the Gomel Provincial Department for Distribution of Printed Works was developed in 1919. Its establishment took place after the Red Army’s second occupation of the city of Gomel in the Russian Empire (now in southeastern Belarus). The Red Army first occupied Gomel at the end of 1917 but due to ongoing combat during World War I, the city fell under German control. Red forces ultimately took Gomel in January 1919.
